Sayre’s Christmas Skype - December 25, 2018

Sayres Skype Call - Christmas 2018

A lady from their ward bought them gift cards to Bob Evans for Christmas Eve dinner. They were so grateful and loved the meal. Sayre says it is a good place to eat.

Hannah has been the biggest miracle of his mission. It was an amazing experience and he loves the Fischer’s. Brother Fischer helped him and his companion get out from being stuck in the mud. They were so grateful for him and his family’s kindness. They surprised him with the news that Hannah was getting baptized and it was amazing. Their family is getting sealed in a few months. We have to go back and visit them.

Everyone loves the crappy Browns, and the Cleveland Indians. The Indians are pretty good.

Kirtland was amazing. They were able to have a Christmas meeting there and tour the grounds. The church is across the street from the Johnson farm. The upstairs room is where Joseph Smith had the vision for the plan of salvation. Joseph and Hyrum were there. They received revelation and would ask each other if they got the same revelation and they did every time. One of the concerts was able to be confirmed in that room. The spirit was amazing. They also took another investigator family there who had a little girl. She stood on the table and started singing "I am a Child of God." It was a great experience. He loves the historical sites and wants to go back.

He had Christmas morning with a family that has young boys so that was fun to play with their toys and stuff. He is grateful for the Stewart’s and all they’ve done for him. They were going on a car scavenger hunt on Christmas with them.

He comes home around December 15th and so he will only miss one Christmas.

There are 2 sets of elders and 6 sets of sisters. The elders are killing it and teaching a lot more people. They are working hard.

It is cold there and wet all of the time.

Civil war stuff there? There are civil war battle fields and stuff around there but he hasn’t seen any yet except for a cemetery.

What is the town like?Just a lot of stores, pretty normal

Companion? He likes his companion, Elder Norris. He is from Richfield, Utah.  His best friend on his mission is Elder Hooper. The mission president called him one night and said are you ready to train? Sayre said "no." So the mission president said ok I’ll See you in the morning, but He is so glad that he met him. One night he said that Sayre was his best friend. They got a long really well. He is from Arizona. So he can see him after the mission.

Christmas presents?I got good presents. Everything fit.

Mission president?Love the mission president. He got rid of all of the boundaries so we just have the wards now. Super kind and sincere.

Singing in church? He has sang in every ward he has been in so far and at two baptisms. He sang in church for the Christmas program. They told the story of the German and American soldiers who sang Silent Night. Sayre sang it in English and the other guy sang it in German. They stood across the stage.

Food?He eats good. Members feed them a lot of pizza. He never wants pizza again after his mission, but his is grateful for the food!

Best thing about Ohio?Ohio is kind of a hole. There is a lot of meth there. A lot of very different people. His companion met a man once and while they were having dinner he asked them if they believed in Jesus. They said "yes". The guy then turned his head and said "well I’m here!" Ohio has a lot more weird people than Las Vegas and there is not much to do. He misses Las Vegas and all there is do to there. He knows that he was called to Ohio for a reason though and loves serving there.

Things people say in Ohio? They call vacuuming and lawn mowing sweeping. They call soda, "pop".

FHE, Lots of Pictures, & A New Companion - December 19, 2018

Hey,
I'm good. I got your Christmas packages. I did not get transferred, but elder Baldwin is leaving. I got Brodey's package. I opened it! It is sweet! The socks are awesome too.
yeah, i have enough presents. I sent your package today. Its not great, but hopefully you all like it. The magic cards are for Brodey in the package.
I'm a little stressed, but it'll be good. Me and Elder Baldwin found more new investigators last week then our entire zone combined. It was awesome. I have no clue where my new companion is from. I've only seen him once. OK i will take some good pictures of Christmas. I took some with the camera I have. I'm gonna start using it.
When I email next Monday, i will tell you the time that we will be skyping.
we are going to Skype from the Stewart's.
Our investigators are doing good. We have two on date and 3 came to church this week.
The family home evening at the Johnson farm was fun. We got to take a tour where the plan of salvation was given and where Joseph Smith was tared and feathered. It was cool.  We are going to try the pizza place tonight for pizza pie Friday for you guys. I'll let you know how it is.
I'm happy and chugging along.
Love you bye

Kirtland Temple, The Stewarts, & Cheesecake - December 10, 2018

Kirtland was awesome. We had a great week. I had a lot of fun and worked hard.
The weather is cold. Its good though. It definitely feels like Christmas. I got mail just from you, and the advent calendar is fun. So, thank you.
The Kirtland temple is different. Its not like a temple more like a church. The RLDS own it. We had a meeting there and then dessert at a different place. The Stewart's drove us to the ward party. That was nice.
It was cool. it feels a little weird because its not dedicated or holy anymore. They do have church there every week. It was pretty inside, but pretty plain though.
On Christmas, we are having breakfast with a young family in the ward. So that'll be fun with their kids. Then skyping you guys and eating at the Stewart's for dinner. Sister Stewart says she wants to be a celebrity on the blog. :)
I'm happy! Me and elder Baldwin just made cheesecake. We are having dinner at a members house tonight. We are teaching a good family and a few other people. The lessons have been going great.

Baptism, Service, & Cold - December 3, 2018 (11Months!!!)

My week was fun.
We had a good time and did a lot. Hannah's baptism was awesome! We texted president and he said it was OK, because it was only 50 min away and i played a pivotal part in her conversion. I was asked to sing. I sang Nearer My God to Thee. It was good. It isn't super normal, so it was awesome! It was so cool. She was so happy.
The Long Johns and gloves worked great! Thank you. The ward is good. Its colder, but I'm not freezing
We have a few decorations we have lights and some mini trees. Missionaries have collected them over the year. It's pretty fun.
The town isn't super Christmasy. A lot of the members are decorating. Our ward has a Christmas party in Kirtland on Saturday. We are hoping we can go. It is cold, but no snow. just wet and rainy.
we did a lot of service and finding.  We raked a ton of leaves
um....not sure if I will be in a big town anytime. Gahanna was big and close to Columbus, and Cleveland is where elders get mugged A LOT. You don't want me there. Elly would love a mission, she would do great. You've definitely raised some Jesus loving kids, mom.
Love you all

Working, Johnson Farm, and Black Friday - November 26, 2018

Our thanksgiving was fun.
We did a lot of facebook in the Walmart parking lot to see the black Friday madness. It was fun. We then got some great food from a couple members. It was a good time. The week was good just not a ton of exciting stuff. Yeah we are finding more people,  but none super solid yet. We are working on it.
The other elders in the area are doing good. Elder Baldwin is fun. We have a good time.
It is good. It's getting cold and rainy, but so it goes. My shoes are good. I would love some boot looking shoes. I can send a pic if you want of an idea. I did get a haircut today, so I'll take a selfie.
We email in a clubhouse that we have for our apt.  I would love some Christmas decorations. We got to look around Johnson Farm a little bit. It's pretty basic, just a barn pretty much.
I'm having fun. It didn't really feel like thanksgiving, so it was kind of weird being away from home.
We raked some leaves and stuff this week. In a typical day we find people.  We stop by potentials and talk to them. Me and Elder Baldwin are good teachers, so we like to teach
mostly.
Well, I've got to go,

New Town, New Companion - November 21, 2018

Hey everyone,
Elder Baldwin is good. We have been having fun. We get along really well. My new address is 9001 Portage Pointe Dr, Apt. B107, Streetsboro, OH 44241
This week has been good. I said goodbye to everyone in Alliance I will send pics. My new area is good. Elder Baldwin is super nice, and we are having a good time. Yeah, we do tell people that we are related. Everyone enjoys it.
There are tons of super nice people here. We have a super nice apt. And there are a lot of good young members. There is a lot farmland around here.
We haven't been to Johnson Farm Historic Site yet, but we are going to go to Kirtland for the ward Christmas party. So that'll be awesome. The do a live nativity thing for Thanksgiving.
For our Thanksgiving, we are going to an older couples home. They are really nice. It has been snowing a lot. It has been fun but also super cold.
We live 20 min away in a bigger town. We have a Target and stuff. Our church building is right next to the Johnson Farm. It's just a bunch of barns. I don't get to work there. The sisters and the senior couple do that. Sad, I know.
The Johnson Farm is where Joseph Smith was tarred and feathered. It is also where he received the revelation for the plan of salvation and the three kingdoms.
Last night a family with three little boys fed us and that was fun. He fed us massive deer steaks and Australian chocolates called Tim tams. It was way fun. We are working on getting a teaching pool and finding people.
I love you all,
Elder Davis

I'm Getting Transferred, Baptism & Mud - November 14, 2018

Hey!
Shirley got baptized on Saturday and she was so funny. She is like 80 years old and is just super excited for the church. Five minutes before the service was supposed to start she gets up and starts walking to the font and goes its time! I'm ready! We had to pull her back in because there were talks and stuff. It was funny. I then sang on Sunday come thou fount. That was fun and a good time. We also got stuck in the mud trying to give people cookies and brother fisher and Hannah fisher came and saved us. That was good. On thursday we built this shed for some recent converts. One person said it was like building a Lego set from Good will, But we finished it this week. Shirley's baptism was great. She is a sweet old lady, at the end of it she came up to hug me and pulled me in there's nothing I could do. Sunday was good, she got confirmed and then we had a Sunday social with the ward it was fun it was at this guys house and its my dream home. I will try to describe it on Monday. Monday was good we had a lesson, and on Tuesday we had a lesson with brother wait, the guy who owns the house. He is a Crack up so it was fun. We then had dinner with Becky who got baptized 3 weeks ago and she is doing great. She had dinner with us and a couple of members. That's been our week really. It's been good. I'm getting transferred to Hiram, Ohio. it is a small town near a church historic site. so that will be cool. my new comp is Elder Baldwin (His mom is my mom's second cousin. She is a Prettyman). I am sad to leave this area, the people, and my comp, but it will be fun in Hiram.

Big News! November 7, 2018

Hey!
My week was good. Big news! Our p-day starting the 19th of November will be moved to Monday. Salt Lake wants it so that's what it will be. So keep that in mind. We also have a baptism Saturday! Shirley is so excited and it will be great. Two baptisms in one transfer! It's been awesome. We also helped a couple from the ward move. She breeds and shows dogs so we helped move a bunch of cages and I got to see a bunch of puppies! It was a good time. We went on exchanges yesterday and that was fun. I went with elder Harmon and we visited one guy with tons of swords and knives so that was sweet. BUT the highlight of the week was our stake held a sacred music festival and it was with a ton of Baptist choirs and stuff. They were shouting and screaming hallelujah, we also got to clap in the chapel. We took shirley and she loved it. Brother wait one of the members in our ward is awesome and he drove us. He's super funny, then I got to sit by Birhter fisher and say Amen a lot to join in😂😂. We then drive home and Birhter wait realized no one feeds us so we went back to his house which is BEAUTIFUL with a lake and a zip line and stuff. He then asked his wife to make us breakfast for dinner and we ate with them that night. It was definitely a highlight of the week. Zone conference was good. President and sister Stratford were as awesome as ever. All and all a good week.
